What is argumentive writing?

First of all, what is an argument? An argument is your opinion or an opinion supported by evidence and/or facts. So therefore, argumentive writing would be a topic that states your opinion or and opinion. In the piece of argumentive writing you need to state facts, quotes, and/or evidence supporting that opinion. In an argumentive piece you should state as many pros and/or cons depending on whether you are for or against the topic. An argumentive writing piece could also be about debating, controversery, and/or conflict. So if I were to write an argumentive piece it would be about a topic in which I agree or disagree and facts and/or evidence stating why.

I liked what you said. Not only is argumentative writing about stating your opinion with facts, but can also be an issue where not everyone will agree with you on a certain topic.
